Emergence Astrology
An Emergence Astrology Approach to Living
Most people come to astrology with an ache.
You may not even know how to articulate what it is. There’s just something guiding you to it. It’s unlanguageably mysterious. Looking back on my hard and fast love affair with the cosmos, I see now that what I ached for was to build a home inside myself where it would be safe to emerge.
Emerge to rest.
To listen.
To desire.
To savor.
To fuck up.
To be shiny.
To get into myself.
Where it would be safe to emerge as enraged.
To not apologize for my boundaries.
To be messy.
To not know.
To say no.
To grieve. To do things queerly.
To change my mind.
Astrology didn’t just help me build a home. Astrology is the home.
I built a home inside myself where it’s safe to receive the gushing love from my delicious partner, the adoration of my daughters, and the appreciation of my community. I built a home inside myself where I feel worthy to receive wealth and attention. I built a home inside myself where I can trust it’s okay to be a soccer mom, a nerdy academic, and an incendiary witch, all at once. I built a home inside myself so I could share myself with you because I want everyone to experience the wonder, abundance, and liberation of this language. In sharing myself, I share astrology. Astrology wants to be lived through our stories.
Through the course of working with astrology for myself and my community, I developed my own approach to this ancient wisdom tradition, one that I call Emergence Astrology. Emergence Astrology is interested in helping us to participate in the present moment—the only place where we can create, where we can love, and where we can show up.
This is no small thing because the present moment is triggering. All astrology is a time practice. It’s the study of time and cycle, something that continues moving no matter what we think or try or feel. Both time (every day being in a body) and Time (the whole of it we try to fathom)—are triggering because we can’t control them. We can’t know for certain we’ll be “okay.”
Emergence Astrology has to do with growing skill in holding ourselves in the present so that no matter what happens, we feel “okay”—whatever that means in the moment. Emergence Astrology wonders: What does it even mean to be okay? Can it be okay to be messy? Can it be okay to be alone? Can it be okay to be confused? Can it be okay to not know?
Emergence Astrology wants you to call yourself out of the past. Emergence Astrology wants you to come back from the future. Emergence Astrology invites you to be here, in the present moment, listening inside to let the cosmos talk to you about what wants to emerge. Emergence Astrology says there is no future potential. There is only that which emerges in present time.
Emergence Astrology aims to support you in reframing your stories in its magical language. This is the astrology you’ve been longing to hear spoken. And to receive this approach, you have to surrender any hope that astrology is an outside authority with answers or predictions. So for answers, you go within. I will show you how.
Astrology creates the conditions for you to notice what you truly want as well as what you’re not showing up for anymore. Astrology helps you trust that you know the way.
These conditions feel like cracks: The rupture that appears when an illusion is shattered and you trust you have the bravery to stand what you see. The gap created when paradox is welcome and you let yourself be exquisitely complicated and undefinable. The fissure that breaks up your shame so you soften into compassion.
Cracks are magical because they create a doorway to receive what you’re ready for. These are openings you might not otherwise notice when experiencing time in an automated, linear way that urgently demands consistency.
There’s a portal appearing for you right now as you read this. It’s the universe flirting with you in response to your curiosity. Let me be clear: this courtship with astrology is utterly dangerous. Because it has consequences. Your world will change, and in changing your world, so you will change mine.
We are all 12 the signs, I like to say. I go into more depth on my approach toward the signs, planets, and houses here. Or, if you’re ready to dive right in to the deep end, you can buy my individual sign workbooks here.
