Death Cleaning in the Dark 🧹
Death Cleaning in the Dark In this newsletter: – Death Cleaning, the Dark of the Moon, & the Dark of the Year – “ARTstrology: Scorpio Season with Britten LaRue” – a new podcast interview with Art Witch creator and my friend Zaneta Sykes – Introducing Living the Signs: Sagittarius! She is here… EARLY! – The Year Ahead Reading for 2021- Limited Spots for pre-holiday arrival! A few years ago, my mom came across an article on the Swedish art of “death cleaning.” As proud Swedish-American descendants, she immediately looked into this and shared with the family. The idea of death cleaning is to clear out what we don’t need to hold onto anymore, as a form of ritual, healing, and…
Love After Love
IT’S A FULL MOON HALLOWS’ EVE LOVE AFTER LOVE By Derek Walcott The time will come when, with elation, you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror, and each will smile at the other’s welcome, and say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was your self. Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ignored for another, who knows you by heart. Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit. Feast on your life. This Saturday morning, on Halloween, we have the Full Moon…
Well Hello There, Scorpio ♏
THE PORTAL TO TRANSFORMATION IS OPEN https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/moon-to-moon/id1503553925#episodeGuid=2539779c-401f-4d60-9f82-c749e757469a “When I feel myself to be invited into something Plutonian, I often think of the astrologer Howard Sasportas’s discussion of Hercules and the Hydra in his book The Twelve Houses. He describes: ‘In the eighth labor of Hercules, the hero has to find and destroy the Hydra, a nine-headed monster who lives in a cave at the bottom of a murky swamp. At first, he tries to kill the beast while it is still in the water but every time he cuts off a head, three more appear in its place. Finally Hercules remembers the advice of his teacher: ‘We rise by kneeling, we conquer by surrendering, and we gain by giving up.’…
Transition as Initiation 🌀
TRANSITION AS INITIATION https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/moon-to-moon/id1503553925#episodeGuid=2539779c-401f-4d60-9f82-c749e757469a “[During my illness] I worked heavily with the Norse ancestor Hel who is this compassionate, creative entity that holds space for us in our death transformations. I was reading a lot about her right before I had my own death transition, and I had worked with her and dreamed with her. I actually had a dream where I was laying my head in her lap. In the medieval version of the Norse myths she’s half-rotting corpse and half-living human, and in the dream I had my head on her bone lap and she was stroking my hair with her bone hand. And it was the most peaceful dream I think I’ve ever had. It was just……
The Wisdom at the Horizon ♎
Welcome Libra! Welcome Equinox! From September 23 to October 22 on the Gregorian calendar, Libra season is a time when the winds shift. The first day of Libra is also the portal to autumn, what is known as the autumn equinox. The equinoxes are the midway points between the winter and summer solstices, the shortest and the longest days of the year, respectively. Equinox actually means “equal night,” for the fact that at the equinox we hold equal parts light and dark in that day. This is ever-shifting. Once we pass that singular moment in time, we tip toward shorter and shorter days, with the approach of the deep dark ahead. So, the equinoxes speak to the times of the…
Refining Your Work in the World
Happy New Moon in Virgo! In Living the Signs: Virgo, I offer a exercise for this New Moon called Refining Your Work in the World that reflects a ritual I created for myself last Virgo season that completely shifted how I work, and that blossomed for me in huge ways come the Full Moon in Virgo last Pisces 2020. As subscribers to my newsletter, I am sharing it with you now (https://www.dropbox.com/s/qhdsugd5ecthbi4/New%20Moon%20in%20Virgo%20ritual.pdf?dl=0) . If you are looking to release patterns about how you work, I recommend trying this out tonight or Friday. If you are looking to grow patterns, you might consider waiting until Saturday or Sunday. Certainly, these last few weeks, the Mars Retrograde square Saturn Retrograde vibes have…
The Moon of Myself 🌗
The card in the tarot that we associate with Virgo is The Hermit. The Hermit is a person who voluntarily undergoes a period of seclusion from worldly life, with the intent to connect with either a spiritual path or at least a way of living that promises to heal and evolve them through self-denial, silence, prayer, and/or meditation. The term itself comes from a Greek word meaning “of the desert,” as in an uninhabited place. To become a hermit is to leave the inhabited world in some way. Presumably, since humans are social creatures who rely on one another for survival, safety, and connectedness, a hermit has powerful intentions for turning away from the tribe and town. In many decks,…
EDIT: Living Virgo is at noon CST
I truly apologize for the double email (it pains me to resend this), but I forgot to add the time for the meetup tomorrow. Thank you to those who gave me the heads up! Living Virgo will be at noon on Tuesdays, which is the standard meeting time for these Living conversations. Thank you for your patience. Welcome Virgo Season! It’s time to get organized. Like so many of us, I’m in the throws of recalibrating with the shift in rhythm from summer to fall, while trying to stay calm and open with all of the not-knowing. I have good days and bad days. Mostly, I find parenting to be the biggest challenge on every level. A lot of the…
Virgo: The Devoted One ♍
Welcome Virgo Season! It’s time to get organized. Like so many of us, I’m in the throws of recalibrating with the shift in rhythm from summer to fall, while trying to stay calm and open with all of the not-knowing. I have good days and bad days. Mostly, I find parenting to be the biggest challenge on every level. A lot of the effects of living through this time on their psyches are out of my control. It’s not my fault. There’s nothing I can do to make a lot of things better for them. What IS in my control is how I hold my alignment. Something I’m struck by lately is the vital importance of self-regulating the nervous system…
A Harvest of Hopes & Dreams 🌾
Happy Full Moon! Today, at 10:59 AM CST, the Sun in Leo will be exactly opposite the Moon in Aquarius. As you admire it tonight, you can consider how at sun went down, Leo set to the west. And then at the same time, Aquarius hits the eastern horizon holding our Moon. They are polar signs, across the sky from one another, and seemingly so different as sign energies. And yet they teach each other and evolve each other, and in contemplating the Moon in Aquarius, we can remember that it actually reflects the light of the Leo Moon. The Moon sings a song about holding your unique truth among the chants of the crowd, about how the collective is…
